MIREYA GREY

My name is Mireya Grey, the founder and coach of Set Apart Soccer. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, where I began playing soccer at 11 years old in a neighborhood rec league. I never had a passion for the game (hence the very late start), but it was players like Ronaldo, Rooney, Messi, Henry, and more that showed me that soccer is so much more than kicking a ball in a net.

I soon went on to play for a small select club called Kajumulo FC while also guest playing with clubs around the state such as NW United, PSPL Academy, and PAC. Finding a free weekend away from games and traveling became more and more rare. 

​

I went to Seattle Academy HS making the greatest memories of playing high school soccer. During that time, I had the opportunity to play for the U18-20 US Youth National teams, right before starting my college career.

By the beginning of my college career, I had also begun playing with the youth Jamaica national team. Down the road, this led to my first camp with the Senior Jamaica Women's team and my eventual first time playing in the 2019 World Cup!

My career has not been a straight path to say the least. After having surgery to repair my torn ACL on two different occasions, I began to learn more about sports rehabilitation, strength, and conditioning. Although it is never anyone's wish to be injured, I learned so much about being a stronger and healthier athlete than I ever was before.

As I continue my professional career I am continuing to play with the Jamaica team when competition calls while also establishing my off-the-field passions for coaching, mentoring, and serving in ministry through my church.

After continuous prayer on how God can use me to make an impact using the skills and experience that I possess, the name and idea for Set Apart came. As much as I love coaching and playing soccer, I believe Set Apart carries a much greater purpose that will uplift and transform athletes wherever there's a need.
